I have been on Texas Death Row for several years, by no means have it gotten any better. The staff is a constant turn over, even they feel the gloom and darkness of this place. Stories have been told of Death Row having or being of some resemblance of a luxury resort or country club, that’s far far from any resemblance of truth.
The horrors of this place have drove some to suicide, and mental illness abounds do to the ever present conditions. The stimulus's here induce ad choices, thus bad choices reflect bad behavior, but the underlying cause is the negative environment.
Those that are sane and who have not committed suicide, are so less to have strong will, family and a support base to keep them. The systems aim is to reduce the inmate to nothing, the desired effect is that we be reduced to nothing but a shell and then the execution be carried out.
It is dark and lonesome on Death Row, much n line with the way the system wishes it to be. As much as the system can take away from us without looking or reading to b too inhumane,, “they do”! We are having to have to not look at the circumstances, but reach out and allow the pen pal and help organizations to be our life blood. We need you and we very much appreciate all that you do.
It was a huge mistake for me to go as long as I have without reaching out, I do not want to be alone. I do not wish to walk this walk by myself, I enjoy being alive and wish to fight for my life with all the energy that I have.
I want to connect with you! I want to share my thoughts and express my hope. I believe there is value in all life, while certainly there should be consequences for one wrong doings, “death does not replenish a lost”! It would be foolish to think that some executions of lives have been done to the total innocent, especially when you see the use of the new found DNA testing. You have had exonerations in large enough numbers that you would think it would be enough to prompt a halt to all executions throughout USA.
We are a sick nation of people right now, hopefully with a new year, new ideas, new leadership and a new hope; perhaps we can an will move from our sick and barbaric mentality towards the Death Penalty and how we treat people around the world.
In my quest for a pen pal, I would like someone who isn’t afraid of the truth. Who will not be too judgmental, one whom I can share my bad times and good times with. I in turn will be open and honest, I will talk openly about anything about me. I am an extravert, but not to the point that I am color conscious also, I cry real tears even though I am a man and as a man growing up. “We were told that we shouldn’t cry” , that was for girls! Well, they forgot to tell us about our hearts and how they will feel pain.
I enjoy reading and I also enjoy meeting people. My line of work before my incarceration dealt with dealing with the public, so I reckon my liking to meet people is certainly a product of that.
In closing, I hope to hear soon from you and I send you my best of wishes in your life.
